Lisa Garretson
Lisa Garretson was inspired by dance for the first time over thirty years ago at the age of three in Midland, Texas. While attending the University of North Texas, she studied dance and received extensive training. Her training includes ballet and modern with an emphasis in tap, jazz, and lyrical. Lisa has danced professionally for Events in Motion and was a student instructor for the Jazz Department at Richland College. She has been a guest instructor and choreographed dances at a variety of workshops throughout the Metroplex. In addition, Lisa has choreographed and helped prepare drill teams and individual dancers for dance competitions and scholarship auditions. She also had the opportunity to choreograph for the children’s music group, The Neighbor Kids. Lisa’s work has been recognized by numerous scholarships including dance tuition scholarships to the Edge Performing Arts Center. Her students have also received scholarships provided by the Dallas Dance Council in recognition of her efforts as a choreographer. Lisa’s choreography and leadership has also led to the recognition of numerous students in dance competitions. She has chosen to share her passion for dance with others as an instructor and mentor for the past sixteen years. The role of instructor allows Lisa to assist dancers in building their self-esteem and confidence. She cherishes every moment that she is able to inspire dancers to pursue a career in the dance industry and follow their dreams. Photo courtesy David Harris |
